We’re excited to share that construction on our new center officially began in late July! The site is now bustling with activity as heavy earthwork is underway. Fencing is now up around the site and truckloads of soil are being removed daily allowing access to the site from Holdfort Court.
Important Progress Update
Over the course of 2024, we completely redesigned our building with the goal of bringing down the project to our initial budget. The new building has a slightly smaller footprint, though with the more efficient floorplan there is no decrease to our programming potential.
We are pleased with the beautiful new design, now complete, a true effort of a team of experts. The siteplan and shape of the parking lot has also been changed to remove the need for certain retaining walls.
We now have bids from GC’s in hand that are in line with our initial budget for the project. Permitting with the town is nearing approval.
That leads us to a new sense of urgency.
We can break ground this winter as soon as we raise the necessary funds

We recently completed our summer redesign of certain elements of the building. The building has a slightly smaller footprint, though with the more efficient floorplan there is no decrease to our programming potential.
Some of the differences in the new design include an area designated for future expansion that will currently function as outdoor gathering space. Another change is that the balcony area no longer has an overhang and will serve as the Sukkah area! The kitchen has also been moved to be directly adjacent to the social hall.
The new plans are in the process of being drawn and the updated site plan is scheduled to be approved by the town in the coming months. We are still on track to break ground late winter or spring, G-d willing!
In December, our building team submitted our site plan. We have since received feedback and are working together with the Town. Our architects continue to move forward on the more detailed construction documents including the commercial kitchen.
For the design of our most sacred room, the sanctuary, we are thrilled to welcome a new team member, Esther Hershkowitz, all the way from Israel. We look forward to soon showing you an updated rendering of the sanctuary.
We are excited to announce a gift from the Samuel P Mandell Foundation for our Jewish Center. Thank you for partnering with us in bringing vibrant and meaningful Judaism to Jewish families from all backgrounds in Western Wake County.
With this latest gift, we have now raised a total of 2.8 million dollars in pledges for the Jewish Center.
